This is the first time I have occasion to visit A&E and I found the service to be fast, friendly and efficient in a word excellent. From initial check in to my visit to the nurse was about 15 minutes and a further 10 minutes to see the nurse practitioner. I could not have asked for a faster more efficient service.

I was seen a lot more quickly than expected (total 2 hrs 20 minutes), particularly as the department was busy. Staff were friendly, explained to me the eye examinations, and were also able to answer my questions. I was told to go back if ever I had further concerns, which was also reassuring. A bit more space in the waiting room would be good, though I'm not sure this would be possible.

Although the department was exceptionally busy, it was a very well oiled system which worked like a dream. Staff were very friendly too which always helps.

I attended eye infirmary for a eye blister, referred by GP I was seen by mr Osborne Who stated that he thought it should be removed, I have previous history of facial skin cancer. I returned 3 days later to have it removed it was sent for histology I have been informed today that it was benign A first class service would recommend the hospital to anyone.

have a screen to display the patient name when they are required for treatment, this would help the patients that have impaired hearing

Was seen by triage within 10 minutes, he was very good, explained everything clearly.Waited another 10 minutes before I saw the registrar who was excellent. Explained I required urgent treatment and contacted his colleague who was at Hartlepool, explained the situation and I was then told I would need to wait for an hour to give his colleague time to travel to Sunderland. Visited the cafe, which was clean, the cup of tea was lovely and the staff were friendly. When I returned to A&E, after 45 minutes the doctor from Hartlepool was waiting, she was excellent, explained everything clearly, I was then given laser treatment. From entering A&E to leaving, was a total of 3 hours, which included the hour wait - not an issue. The treatment I received was excellent, all staff were very professional and reassuring. Thank You
